Finance Staff Struggle To Engage With Other Departments

A recent study of CFOs by Robert Half Finance & Accounting has found that the greatest challenge for finance and accounting professionals is learning to interact with a variety of personalities when working with those in other departments. When asked, “Which one of the following do you think is the greatest challenge for accounting and finance professionals when working with coworkers in other departments?” respondents said:
  • Learning to interact with a variety of personalities – 39%
  • Managing stress arising from crisis situations – 22%
  • Prioritizing conflicting deadlines throughout the enterprise – 19%
  • Conveying financial information in nonfinancial terms – 19% 
“For functions such as accounting and finance that interact with a broad cross-section of business units, navigating disparate protocols and personalities can be tricky,” says Paul McDonald, Senior Executive Director for Robert Half. “The most successful and satisfied employees work well with just about everyone.
