Survey: Communication Remains Old School

Most companies continue to use traditional tools to communicate with employees, according to a recent survey of more than 200 U.S. workers by theEMPLOYEEapp, a mobile internal communications platform. They survey found that most companies aren’t using the communication tools most familiar to Millennial and Gen-X employees, which include smart phones and text messaging. Some highlights:
  • 89% of companies communicate via email
  • 80% communicate in person
  • 50% use the telephone
  • 30% of employees ignore their employer’s emails
  • 68% of employees say communication frequency directly impacts job satisfaction
  • 62% say methods used directly impact job satisfaction
  • Nearly half say they feel out of the loop in their organization
  • 33% say they want more communication.
