Unfinished BusinessIn this one-hour YouTube show with David Sliman, Bruce Bolger discusses how the principles of total quality management in manufacturing can help any organization enhance performance and stakeholder experiences.

Total Quality Management (TQM). Bolger emphasizes the importance of TQM, which involves a strategic and systematic approach to harmonizing the interests of all stakeholders, including employees, customers, suppliers, and shareholders. This approach ensures continuous improvement, thereby almost eliminating the need for change management processes.

Respect and ownership. In TQM, every worker is given respect and a stake in the company's success. This includes the ability to shut down the assembly line if necessary, fostering a culture of ownership and responsibility.

Continuous Improvement.  The system provides a process and incentives to help the company improve constantly. This approach integrates change management into the company's culture.

Organizational alignment. Critical is the ability to harmonize the interests of those in charge with those leading the charge at the front lines. This alignment is crucial for running a successful organization, he believes, by ensuring that everyone is focused on the same purpose, goals, objectives and values.

Human capital management: This involves creating a symbiotic relationship between the company and its employees, ensuring both personal and professional growth in a healthy environment, and recognizing that people are a source of wealth and value creation, not a sunk cost. With this comes metrics to help organizations better understand the value created.

Leadership and culture. Bolger stresses the importance of leadership and culture in building healthy organizations. He mentions that the CEO's vision and values play a critical role in shaping the company's culture and ensuring alignment with the company's goals and objectives across the enterprise.
