ADP Study: Global Employee Engagement Levels Unchanged Over 3 Years
According to a survey of 19,000 employees worldwide, only about 16% are “fully engaged,” and this percentage hasn’t changed much since 2015, meaning that 84% of workers are just “coming to work” instead of contributing all they could to their organizations.
Despite all the talk of employee engagement in the U.S., the percentage of fully engaged employees in the U.S. decreased in the last three years, according to a recent study by ADP. Brazil, China and Mexico also saw declines in employee engagement levels, while employee engagement increased in Argentina, Australia, Canada, France, India, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom.
Other key findings:
• Workers like teams. Workers who say they are on teams are 2 to 3 times more likely to be fully engaged.
• The importance of trust. Workers are 12 times more likely to be engaged if they trust their team leaders.
• Virtual workers who work on teams are more likely to be engaged (29%) than those that work in an office (19%).
• More educated and higher-level employees are more engaged than the general workforce.
• Millennials are slightly less engaged than Baby Boomers, and women are slightly more engaged than men.
