JUST People-Centric ETF Significantly Outperforms TTAC Share Buyback Fund Over 29 Months

Stock buybacks are a common way to boost investor returns but do they really provide sustainable long-term returns? This 29-month comparison, conducted at random, suggests that people-centric companies might provide more sustainable returns.

The JUST Capital ETF has outperformed the Dow Jones Industrial Average by 13% since its inception in June 2018. In comparison, the respected TTAC (TrimTabs All Cap) ETF, investing in “high-quality companies with share buyback programs,” was up roughly the same as the DJIA.

The EEA’s Engagement Agency M&A advisor Michael Mazer ran a random comparison of the JUST Capital ETF (Exchange-Traded Fund) of companies that focus on investing in people against the TrimTabs All Cap ETF that invests in high-quality companies with a focus on increasing share prices through stock buybacks. The date range was picked at random.

The JUST Capital Goldman Sachs ETF, which includes large-cap US equities judged to have high levels of employee, customer, and community engagement, has performed much like the Engaged Company Stock Index study created for the EEA by Laurie Bassi and McBassi & Company. That study, based on a similar premise using different data sources, outperformed the S&P 500 by over 37 percentage points over six years from 2012 to 2018. • TTAC fund: up 19%
