Survey: Christian Workplaces Have Higher Levels of Engagement Than Average

Nearly 60% of employees working in Christian workplaces report feeling engaged at work, according to The State of the Christian Workplace 2025, compared with 31% in the average US organization, according to the latest Gallup statistics.  The biggest complaints found in the survey are related to financial rewards for performance and a failure to listen to employee suggestions.

This study will be among the topics discussed with the panelists in the upcoming Enterprise Engagement Alliance Stakeholder Management and Purpose Leadership Show, An Introduction to Faith-Based Capitalism, March 26 at 11 am ET.

The State of the Christian Workplace 2025 report is based on anonymous feedback from nearly 160,000 employees in Christian-led workplaces across multiple sectors. The Best Christian Workplaces’ Employee Engagement Survey is a proprietary, research-based tool for assessing workplace health.

Jay Bransford, President and CEO of Best Christian Workplaces, Mercer Island, WA, emphasizes the importance of workplace health: “This report highlights remarkable examples of what can happen when leaders listen to their teams and take intentional steps to build flourishing workplaces. Leaders in healthy Christian-led workplaces model Christ and empower their teams to flourish, extending their impact to the world. However, many organizations still face challenges in fostering engagement and workplace health. Our 2024 data revealed that one-third of surveying organizations fell below the healthy threshold. This underscores the ongoing need to support and equip leaders in their journey toward creating workplaces that honor God and uplift their people.”

Included in the report are:
  • Churches
  • Parachurch and missions
  • Rescue missions
  • Family services
  • Christian schools (K-12)
  • Higher education
  • Businesses
  • Other Nonprofits
The report is based on data gathered over the last five years, using 50-plus survey questions. Responses are anonymous to encourage honest feedback. The report “reflects the stories of almost 160,000 employees and how they experience their workplaces. The data spans from 2020 to 2024, offering a snapshot of the Christian workplace today. The report highlights the collective voice of Christian employees, revealing both strengths and areas for growth across various sectors.
