"Humanizing Human Capital:" How People Analytics Enhances Business
Humanizing Human Capital is a new book by human capital pioneers that “reveals a step-by-step method to applying analytics approaches to human capital while anticipating inevitable changes in the workforce landscape—and generating positive outcomes for all stakeholders.”
Humanizing Human Capital is one of the six books provided with membership in the Enterprise Engagement Alliance at TheEEA.org, which is focused on helping organizations implement the practical application of Stakeholder Capitalism and human capital management.
Humanizing Human Capital “provides leaders of any organization with a new framework to create resilient, responsive, and innovative organizations with tangible and sustainable business results.”
Authors are Solange Charas, PhD, and Stela Lupushor. Founder and CEO of HCMoneyball, a human capital analytics firm, Charas is a Distinguished Principal Research Fellow at The Conference Board, and a faculty member at Columbia, University of Southern California and New York University, teaching in their Masters of Human Capital Management programs. Previously, Charas served on public company boards and was the chief human resources officer (CHRO) for three global organizations.
Stela Lupushor is Founder of Reframe.Work Inc. which advises clients, venture funds, and startups; the Conference Board’s Fortune 500 corporation members, and the next generation of HR leaders studying at New York University on the use of design thinking, technology, analytics, and future thinking to create inclusive workplaces. Previously, she transformed the workplace practices at the intersection of technology, analytics, and HR at Fidelity Investments, TIAA, IBM, Price Waterhouse, and PwC Consulting and their clients.
Humanizing Human Capital was written “to provide leaders of any organization with a new framework to create resilient, responsive, and innovative organizations with tangible and sustainable business results,” the authors say. “It provides a step-by-step method to apply analytics approaches to human capital while anticipating inevitable changes in the workforce landscape—and generating positive outcomes for all stakeholders.” The book compares “traditional” with the “future-forward” approach to human capital management, case studies, real-world situations, and 20 business principles. It is designed to provide an actionable approach to implementing a human-centric business.
The authors seek to “identify what needs to change to respond to future pressures and apply critical thinking to create workable solutions. The work world is changing faster than ever before. Adapting to this new reality without a significant interruption in results is increasingly a top priority for all businesses. The key to thriving through disruption is understanding and practicing human capital strategies that will drive enterprise performance and value-creation.”
The book, the authors say, is for “the workplace misfits, people analytics geeks keen on solving business problems, rebels passionate about the edge cases, forward-thinkers ahead of their times—all the non-average brave ones who have the courage to change the world of work, one experience, one insight, one measurement at a time.”
